Veteran Services

The U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) has implemented priority of service for veterans and covered persons in all qualified job training programs. This means veterans and covered persons have priority over non-veterans for receiving program funds, and within vets, those who have disabilities, are low income, receiving public assistance, or have other barriers to employment receive highest priority. The system determines veteran and covered person status through questions in demographics.

Case Management

Only DVOP and LVER case managers can provide services to veterans and covered persons, and these staff are funded through Veterans Employment and Training State Grants. DVOPs and LVERs address the employment and training needs of unemployed and underemployed veterans by providing job search, placement, and related assistance that lead to quality employment. Their efforts are concentrated, according to their respective roles and responsibilities, on outreach and the provision and facilitation of direct services to those who have been identified as most in need of intensive employment and training assistance. DVOP and LVER staff, through outreach with employers, develop increased hiring opportunities within the local work force by raising the awareness of employers of the availability and the benefit of hiring veterans. DVOPs primarily work with the veterans, while LVERs work primarily with local employers to create hiring opportunities for veterans.
